Weathered Locos Tutorial and Tips Photo Gallery

In this FREE “How to Weather Locomotives” Tutorial Guide, follow the step-by-step directions and learn what to use, directions on applying the technique and tips.

What was used:

  • humbrol weathing powders
  • smoke grey
  • rust and a little white ash

Directions:

  • spray the locos with a matt clear varnish first so the powders adhere better
  • mask any glazing, artists liquid rubber which can easily removed when its finished

Tips:

  • remember to rotate the wheels, so you don’t get un-weathered bits showing where the rods are located
  • chassis were not done because it can affect the pick up wipers
